Switch to Astra Bank

It's never been easier to switch from your old bank:

Moving your account to Astra Bank has never been easier! Astra Bank’s Switch Kit includes all the forms you need to make the change. Print or copy as many forms as you need, and fill them out to make the change. It’s that easy! Follow the simple steps listed below.

1. Open a new Astra Bank account.

Stop by any Astra Bank location to open a new checking or savings account. Remember to have the following items ready when you open your account:

  • Your previous bank account information
  • A valid driver’s license with photo identification
  • Social Security Number
  • Names and contact information of existing companies to whom you make automatic payments
  • Names and contact information of existing companies from which you receive direct deposits

2. Stop using your old account.

Keep your old account open until your direct deposits and automatic payments take effect with your new Astra Bank account and all outstanding checks clear.  Astra Bank is willing to shred any unused checks, deposit slips and ATM or debit cards from your previous account.

3. Change or sign up for direct deposit.

Complete as many direct deposit forms or government direct deposit forms to inform your employer or other organizations that you have a new Astra Bank account.  Fill out the form using the account and bank routing numbers from your new Astra Bank account.  It is also a good idea to call the entity you want to inform of your account number change to see if they have their own form they prefer you to use and if they also require a voided check or deposit slip.  If you need any help filling out forms, just ask any Astra Bank employee.

4. Change any automatic payments.

If you have any monthly payments such as utility or loan payments automatically deducted from your account, you can use the following Automatic Payment Change Request Form to tell these companies of your new account information.  It is also a good idea to call the company you want to inform of your account number change to see if they have their own form they prefer you to use and if they also require a voided check or deposit slip.  If you need any help filling out forms, just ask any Astra Bank employee.

5. Close your old account.

Once your checks have cleared, your automatic payments, and/or your direct deposits have been changed to your new account, fill out the attached form to inform your former bank that you wish to close your account.  If you have a remaining balance after your outstanding checks have cleared, the bank will send you a check to your new account at Astra Bank.   The employees at Astra Bank will be happy to help you with these forms should you have questions.  We can even mail your request to close your old bank account for you.

6. Enjoy using your new Astra Bank Account!

Welcome to the Family!  With just a few simple steps, you have now moved your account to Astra Bank, and may now enjoy all the benefits that come with your new account!
