On May 7, 2007 Astra Bank became the new name for the Scandia State Bank which was originally chartered in 1911. Most life long Kansans recognize the word “Astra” from our state’s motto. In Latin, Astra means the stars. The staff of both banks has been helping people in this area reach for the stars for a long time. We think this new name is very appropriate for our growing bank.
Beginning with G. Walter Boyles in 1929, our local family ownership spans three generations. His vision of helping our customers achieve their financial goals by providing safe and sound banking services will continue for generations.
